Off-Site Solutions:

VIRTUAL PPA OR VIRTUAL NET METERING

If solar is not feasible for your location, you may be able to procure solar energy from an off-site solar facility via a Virtual PPA or Virtual Net Energy Metering Agreement. In both cases, solar energy is generated at a different location than where the energy is consumed, while still providing cost savings and sustainability benefits.

COMMUNITY SHARED SOLAR

Similar to a Virtual PPA, Community Solar projects allow energy to be generated at one location and consumed by many others at several different locations. Community solar provides access to clean, affordable energy with other members of your community while supporting your business’ and the local community’s sustainability goals.

Cathay Bank

This project was a major step into carbon neutrality and led the banking industry as a whole. This architectural, elegant, award-winning solar carport powers the office building and parking deck while reducing the HVAC load on both structures.

Westmont

  • Size: 16.4 MW
  • Status: Operational

At the time of installation, the Westmont project was the largest solar roof complex at 16.4 MW, spanning four structures, and remains among the largest years later. The system created 500 local jobs and generated an estimated 565 million KW during its first 20 years, mitigating emissions equivalent to 5,000 homes or 6,000 cars off the road.

The rooftop community solar array will provide clean energy to surrounding residents and businesses along with the opportunity to save an estimated 10% of their electricity bills. CubeSmart benefits from annual lease income in exchange for renting their rooftop space to host the solar energy system. CubeSmart will receive approximately $847,000 in rental payments over the 25-year lease term.
